Empowering Caribbean immigrants to thrive in their new home
Mindz In The Woodz was born from a deep understanding of the challenges Caribbean immigrants face when building a new life in the United States.
Founded with the vision of creating a supportive bridge between Caribbean heritage and American opportunity, we recognized that the transition to a new country involves far more than just physical relocation. It requires navigating complex systems, understanding new cultural norms, and building a support network from the ground up.
Our organization provides comprehensive assistance to help immigrants not just survive, but truly thrive in their new environment. From documentation and housing to employment and community integration, we walk alongside each individual and family throughout their journey.
To empower Caribbean immigrants with the resources, guidance, and support they need to successfully transition to life in the United States, while maintaining their cultural identity and building prosperous futures.
A future where every Caribbean immigrant has equal access to opportunities, feels welcomed and supported, and contributes their unique talents to building stronger, more vibrant communities.
Compassion, cultural respect, empowerment, transparency, and community. We believe in treating every person with dignity and providing holistic support that addresses both immediate needs and long-term success.
Founder & Executive Director
Cheryl Thompson brings decades of experience in caregiving, community development, and empowering underserved populations. As the founder and leader of Gentle Sisters Home Care and Bloom CNA School, Cheryl has dedicated her life to helping others achieve their full potential.
Her work in healthcare and education revealed a critical gap in support services for Caribbean immigrantsโindividuals with incredible potential who simply needed guidance and resources to navigate their new environment. This realization inspired the creation of Mindz In The Woodz.
Through Gentle Sisters Home Care, Cheryl demonstrated that quality care isn't just a serviceโit's a lifestyle built on compassion and genuine commitment to improving lives. That same philosophy drives Mindz In The Woodz, where every immigrant is treated as family and every success is celebrated as a shared victory.
Cheryl's vision extends beyond individual assistance. She believes in creating sustainable pathways for entire communities, ensuring that Caribbean immigrants can maintain their cultural heritage while building prosperous futures in America.
